INVESTMENT group Alceon will develop four new commercial office buildings in Northshore, Queensland’s largest waterfront urban renewal precinct.
Minister for State Development Cameron Dick said the multimillion-dollar agreement between the government’s property development and community-shaping agency, Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) and Alceon will benefit the local economy.
“This agreement unlocks land to support business growth and will create more local jobs.
“This is also a vote of confidence by Alceon in the Queensland economy with the company set to build four new commercial buildings over the next six years.” Dick said.
Alceon has already invested up to $100 million in the Brisbane Technology Park (BTP) Northshore over the past seven years. Alceon will invest a further $40 million in the construction of the four buildings, which is expected to house up to 1,200 employees. Construction of the first building at 385 Macarthur Ave is expected to start before the end of the year with completion expected by October 2020.
Dick said the existing tenants in BTP Northshore include Puma Energy, Harris Communications, Fujitsu, Becton Dickinson and Clinical Network Services.
“A diverse portfolio of new world-class commercial buildings will encourage more national and international companies to make the move to the ‘Sunrise State’, delivering more jobs and investment opportunities for Queensland,” he said.
Alceon project director Paul Huston said the development supports the Queensland government’s commitment to developing Northshore into a vibrant and well positioned precinct.
“Our developments provide accommodation for a range of land uses including commercial office, research and development and high-tech warehousing together with café amenities and ample secure car parking,” Huston said. “Located strategically between the airport and CBD, Northshore’s bikeways, recreation spaces, retail and childcare offerings provide a unique proposition for both residents and businesses who can live, work and play in a thriving riverfront precinct,”
