DWELLING unit commencements rose by 4.3% in the March quarter, held up by the apartment and town houses sector, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
This is the second quarterly increase following a rise of 16.8% in the December quarter.
The sustained growth was bolstered by new private sector other residential building work which rose 7.9% in the March quarter following a rise of 20.6% in the December quarter.
On the other hand, housing commencements fell 2.4% following a rise of 14.3% in the December quarter.
