GLOBAL life sciences economy industry body, AusBiotech Pty Ltd has leased a 223 sqm space within the historic Lombard House at 15-17 Queen Street in the Melbourne CBD.
Colliers’ Zak Seccull, Adam Davy and Brigitte Doupe brokered the four-year lease at $535 per sqm.
AusBiotech represents and advocates for organisations including therapeutics, medical technology in devices and diagnostics, digital health, food technology and agricultural, environmental and industrial sectors.
The body is moving from 627 Chapel Street in South Yarra, which developer Goldfields acquired at the end of 2017 and intends to redevelop into a 24-level commercial complex.
“15-17 Queen Street was identified as a convenient and central location for not only Ausbiotech’s staff but its 3,000 members,” Seccull said.
Lombard House has seen four new tenants sign up for space in the building across 950 sqm over the past 12 months, with upward pressure on face rental growth during the period.
Doupe said the heritage nature of the building, which was originally constructed in 1890, and its new end of trip facilities and spec fitted suites, were attractive in a market where demand for character office space has been unprecedented over the past 12 months.
