BROOKFIELD Multiplex has completed construction of Stage One of the Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel & Residences development on the Gold Coast two weeks ahead of schedule.
The first stage of the $370 million Hilton Surfers Paradise, the 32-level Boulevard Tower, has been completed with the second tower due for completion by October 2011.
Brookfield Multiplex regional managing director David Ghannoum said the company is looking for opportunities across Queensland, with a focus on building the engineering and infrastructure workbook in line with their traditional construction focus.
“We plan to expand these services into Queensland and seek opportunities to secure significant infrastructure projects in the State whilst remaining active in contracting such as Hilton Surfers Paradise and Portside Wharf,”
Ghannoum said with Hilton Surfers Paradise’s first stage at the finishing line, construction work is now focused on completing the second and tallest tower in the project, the 57-level Orchid Tower.
“This is a very significant project for the Gold Coast and, indeed, Queensland. It will have a positive impact on the area, injecting a new world-class hotel as well as residential apartments and new retail and dining space, revitalising Surfers Paradise and cementing its position as one of the State’s leading tourism destinations,” he continued.
Brookfield Multiplex also recently began construction on the $70 million Promenade building, the latest residential stage of the Portside Wharf project in Hamilton, Brisbane, comprising 172 apartments.
“We have already completed our first three residential buildings at Portside Wharf and are now underway with our fourth, Promenade.
“More than $235 million in sales have been achieved across all four buildings, and the development boasts a sophisticated retail and dining precinct, welcoming about 150,000 cruise ship visitors at the terminal each year,” he concluded
