CBRE has expanded its research team with key appointments.
Sameer Chopra has been appointed to head up CBRE’s pacific research team and ESG research for the Asia Pacific. Chopra, who is currently head of Australian research at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch, will begin in his new position in July.
“CBRE’s investment in Australian research talent, bringing on several new hires, will build on the firm’s research capability and help deliver new takes on global and local themes to CBRE clients,” said Chopra.
Chopra’s career has included senior roles at Deutsche Bank and Accenture and as a leading researcher on the institutional investor marker has written many industry leading papers over a number of sectors.
“The real estate industry also has a significant role to play in helping to meet Net Zero climate targets, and I’m excited by the opportunity to help generate ESG metrics and promote best practices in the sector,” added Chopra.
CBRE has also appointed Sass J-Baleh from JLL as the head of NSW research and Australian industrial & logistics research.
Her appointment comes as the industrial and logistics sector witnesses unprecedented demand from occupiers and investors.
“Sass’s strong market profile in NSW and experience in industrial & logistics – across economics, supply chain and logistics advisory, manufacturing, ecommerce, land supply and infrastructure – will reinforce the work we’ve been doing to differentiate CBRE’s market offering and support our clients as this market sector continues to evolve,” added Rowland.
J-Baleh’s career has also included positions at Colliers, Urbis and Mainfreight.
“We continually strive to exceed our clients’ expectations and for market differentiation. Sameer brings a fresh perspective on research and new, highly sought-after capabilities in ESG, data centres and telecoms – aligning with current and future market demand,” said Phil Rowland, pacific advisory CEO at CBRE.
CBRE Research has also recruited Nick Baring as senior research analyst, Simon George as GIS mapping analyst, James Boseley as research analyst and Gus McConnell also as a research analyst.
“Our clients expect bespoke, concise and powerful insights. Sameer has demonstrated these capabilities in the highly competitive banking sector as a sought-after media commentator, keynote speaker and panel presenter at a host of recognised industry events,” concluded Rowland.
