Hazelview Investments is looking to offload a shopping centre with redevelopment potential for $37.9m, Green Street News can reveal.
JLL has the assignment for the Thornhill Square Shopping Centre at 300 John Street in Thornhill, Ont. The 8-acre site includes a retail plaza, an office building and a heritage building. The buildings span approximately 172,000 sq ft combined.
Plans for a mixed-use development have been approved for the site. The project comprises four towers ranging from seven to 19 storeys, with 615 residential units and approximately 155,000 sq ft of commercial space.
Zoning by-law amendment and official plan amendment applications have been approved. A site plan approval application is required.
Thornhill Square Shopping Centre was completed in 1990. It’s anchored by CIBC, Food Basics and Shoppers Drug Mart. Santorini Estiatorio occupies the heritage building. There are 280 parking spaces.
At the corner of John Street and Bayview Avenue, the site is 2 km from Highway 7 and Highway 407, 3 km from Highway 404, and within 5 km of Old Cummer GO and Finch station. Bayview Golf and Country Club, CF Fairview Mall and downtown Markham are nearby.
