There is no turning back for the residential property auctions market. Last Saturday, a record number of properties were listed and sold, according to the latest Home Price Guide by Australian Property Monitors.
The latest result is a culmination of strong listings and sales for the past two consecutive weeks.
According to APM, in Sydney 484 properties were listed for auction of which 182 were sold, resulting in an auction clearance rate of 53.7%. The total value of properties sold was $148.6 million.
Compared a year ago, 254 properties were on the market of which 84 were sold for a total of $54.4 million.
Meanwhile in Melbourne, 827 properties were auctioned of which 196 were sold, resulting in an auction clearance rate of 54.6%. The total value of properties sold was $83.5 million.
Compared to a year ago, 507 properties were auctioned of which 169 were sold for a total of $67.2 million.
In Adelaide, 67 properties were listed for auction of which 31 were sold, resulting in an auction clearance rate of 58.5%. The total value of properties sold was $10.5 million.
In Brisbane, 99 properties were auctioned of which 28 were sold, resulting in an auction clearance rate of 50%. The total value of properties sold was $15.2 million.
Brisbane also recorded the most expensive property sold, a 5 bedroom home on 22 Mayfield Street, Ascot sold for $4 million.
