Industry veteran Sylvain Charpentier has launched real estate investment and advisory firm CharpInvest Conseil, Green Street News can reveal.
Charpentier started the business this month after departing Hydro-Québec Pension Fund as head of real estate investments in February.
CharpInvest aims to help pension funds, institutional investors, family offices and not-for-profit organizations align their real estate strategies with long-term value creation, responsible risk management and sustainability.
Charpentier said the company offers customized investment strategies in equity and debt, in addition to portfolio and asset management guidance.
The firm also offers risk assessment and crisis resolution, due diligence, deal structuring and what it describes as environmental, social and governance integration and sustainable positioning.
“We’re not here to sell a product or manage properties,” Charpentier said. “We’re here to guide. Every mandate is customized to the client’s goals, from one-off consulting to long-term strategic engagements. We act as a true extension of your team, helping navigate investment complexity with clarity, confidence and commitment.”
Charpentier had been with Hydro-Québec for over 14 years and was responsible for the management and growth of the pension’s real estate portfolio.
Charpentier said he plans to use his 38 years of experience to do more than offer advice.
“After years leading major institutional real estate investments teams, I wanted to share that knowledge more directly,” he said. “CharpInvest allows me to focus on what I enjoy most — solving complex real estate challenges and helping clients create durable, responsible value.”
