CB Richard Ellis is serving up the new home of Channel 10 new reality TV series MasterChef at Alexandria in South Sydney.
International production company Fremantle Media has signed a short-term lease over the 13 Doody Street building to provide the backdrop for the series, which received over 7,000 applications from budding chefs.
The series will be aired in May, providing a timely debut for this truly unique property, which is to be auctioned on May 14 through CBRE and Durrant Furneaux.
CBRE’s senior manager of industrial & logistic services Anthony Tripodi said the building’s recent refurbishment had set a new benchmark for Alexandria.
He compared the transformation of the former industrial warehouse, which was constructed circa 1925, to that of creative refurbishments such as Jones Bay Wharf.
The early 20th century brick building with massive timber columns and trusses has been fully refurbished, peeling away all the layers of the past 80 years to reveal the strength and simplicity of the original design.
The building is fully airconditioned and no expense has been spared to furnish it with the latest in amenities while retaining the integrity of a genuine industrial loft space which can easily be broken up into various different grids allowing for flexible space planning.
The net lettable building area of this freehold title building is approximately 1,500 sqm opening on to a private leafy courtyard. The property also offers 20 car spaces – a significant drawcard for City Fringe occupiers.
Co-agent Mark Furneaux from Durrant Furneaux said the building was expected to attract interest from companies seeking distinctive accommodation with a point of difference close to the CBD.
