HELLMANN Worldwide Logistics, Sydney Freezers and Beijer Ref have committed to new $450 million industrial precinct at Bankstown Airport in South West Sydney.
The purpose-built facilities at Aware Super and Altis Property Partner’s 162,000sqm industrial estate, Altitude, will allow the new tenants to benefit from the sites prime location with access to major infrastructure routes including rail, sea and air freight hubs.
“We’re thrilled to have such strong brands commit to Altitude at Bankstown Airport. By positioning themselves in the inner ring of Sydney, Hellmann, Beijer Ref and Sydney Freezers will benefit from enhanced supply chains, improving operational efficiencies, and ultimately providing a better service to their customers,” said Joseph Ajaka, project director at Atlis Property Partners.
Global refrigeration and air conditioning wholesaler, Beijer Ref, will be the first to move into the precinct, with its 22,000sqm facility on the estate has reached practical completion.
“Being a part of the complete development process has allowed us to accommodate all aspects of our business and maximise the technology and sustainability opportunities,” said Paul Campbell, director of operations at Kirby and Beijer Ref Australia.
“Together with its manufacturing and warehouse operations, the site also features 1,400-square-metres of office space, conference and customer event facilities and a 260-square-metre flagship store,” added Campbell.
German-based global logistics provider, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, has committed to a 13,111sqm facility in the Altitude estate, after consolidating facilities at Ingleburn and Mascot.
The Hellmann deal was negotiated by Darren Curry and Ray Trimboli at Savills and Peter Taylor at Taylor Nicholas.
“By consolidating two of our facilities into one purpose-built site at Altitude, we can improve our competitive position, offer shorter delivery times and further strengthen our service to our growing customer base in Australia,” said Ray Vella, founding director at Hellmann.
Food distributor, Sydney Freezers, committed to a 10,000sqm warehouse space which includes a 2,000sqm temperature controlled area.
The deal on the facility, which is scheduled for an August 2021 practical completion, was negotiated by Shaun Timbrell from CBRE.
This facility will be located in Building 2, which began construction in January of this year and will add a further 19,200sqm of industrial office and warehouse space. Construction will include nine tonne point loads to the internal slabs, six recessed docks and seven on grade docks, with a 46m wide hardstand.
Altitude will also implement environmentally sustainable features such as a 1.9 megawatt solar system, rainwater harvesting, LED lighting and smart meters throughout and will strive for 5 Star Green Star design.
“Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives are a major priority in everything we do. Across Bankstown Airport we have an embedded network structure, so we can generate solar on site and share it across a number of different buildings,” said Tamara Williams, director ESG at Atlis.
