SABINA Corporation has lodged a development application for a $30 million project near Hobart.
Through its partnership arrangement with G8 Consultants Pty Ltd, Sabina will receive a 50% interest on all consultancy fees earned from the $30 million “Lifestyle Village” development over the next few years.
The partners are proposing to develop the 80-acre property at South Arm on behalf of the developer, TDC Project (South Arm) Pty Ltd as Trustee for Lifestyle Unit Trust.
Sabina chairman Peter Chen said the development is unique because it focuses on a concept where the residents engage in community farming to provide their food production.
“Sustainable technologies would be utilized including solar energy, electric scooters, eco-fireplace, green cement, re-cycled waste water, worm farm, etc.
“Usually, farm land of this size is very awkward; it is too large for as a hobby farm, and too small for a commercial operation.
“We have provided an economic and agriculture solution that will allow the farm manager to earn a decent living and at the same time allow a small community of residents to have the benefits of rural living and growing their own food as well,” he added.
Council is expected to give a decision on the proposal before end June 2010.
