PROMINENT Wyndham City councillor Intaj Khan is selling the Mowbray College property at Caroline Springs, after abandoning plans for a new grammar school.
The 183-191 Caroline Springs Boulevard site, one of three campuses of the former Mowbray College that went into liquidation in mid-2012, has been listed by Savills agents Julian Heatherich, James Lockwood and Nick Peden.
It is expected to fetch around $11 million.
Cr Khan, founder and CEO of the Western Institute of Technology had planned to open a new grammar school – West Lakes Grammar School – on the site.
“I am saddened that I have been unable to provide the quality new school that the local community so desperately needs and deserves. I only hope that the new owner will proceed with my plans,” Cr Khan said.
Heatherich said the property was arguably the best located property in the region and would attract a high level of enquiry.
The property comprises a 12,500 sqm site under the Comprehensive Development Zone with frontages totalling 295 metres. Improvements include multiple educational facilities and buildings totalling 3,370 sqm.
