CONSTRUCTION company Hutchinson Builders has won a $51.7 million contract from Australia Pacific LNG to supply 700 modular accommodation units at the Condabri and Reedy Creek gas fields near Miles and Wallumbilla.
The units will be built in Hutchinson Builders’ Toowoomba modular production facility before being trucked to site, and will include mess halls, administration buildings, kitchens, laundry and other facilities to accommodate the needs of the personnel expected to reside there during the construction phase of the project.
Australia Pacific LNG, a joint venture project between Origin, ConocoPhillips and
Sinopec, senior project manager Tony Papinczak said the temporary accommodation units are a key component of the project.
“We’ve worked hard to ensure local businesses have every opportunity to participate and benefit from the Project where possible. Hutchinson Builders is now one of a growing number of home grown companies contributing to the delivery of this major project,” he added.
Hutchinson Builders’ Toowoomba area manager Robert Weymouth said Toowoomba has a large, stable workforce, and the city is becoming a significant supplier of labour and contractors to the Surat Basin.
