THE Real Estate Institute of Victoria’s president Adam Docking has been forced to resign just after six months at the helm, after he was arrested over an alleged theft.
Seven West Media and Herald Sun reported last night that Docking, who is a director of M J Docking & Associates, was arrested by Victoria Police on Tuesday relating to the alleged theft of signs belonging to a rival real estate agency.
Victoria Police confirmed to the Herald Sun that “A 51-year-old Vermont South man was arrested at the scene without incident.”
Docking was interviewed and released as the investigation is ongoing.
“Police located several small A-frame signs at the property.” Victoria Police said.
Docking’s shock resignation comes only six months after he was elected president.
In October, he was elected as the new president of REIV for the 2021-22 term, after serving two terms as senior vice president and one term as vice president.
The REIV is expected to elect a new president in the coming days.
Australian Property Journal has sought comment from the REIV.
