QUEENSLAND Government-owned energy company Energex has bought an industrial property at Yandina in the Sunshine Coast region.
The transaction was negotiated by Jason O’Meara, senior sales executive with Savills Sunshine Coast. The property was listed for sale by Derek Nissen of Savills Sunshine Coast.
The sale price was not disclosed, but is understood to be approximately $4 million – making it one of the larger industrial property deals transacted on the Sunshine Coast.
Energex will use the 1.8ha site to house a new depot. Located at 26 Machinery Rd, the property was sold by a private developer, who bought it in 2009 and had planned to occupy the newly-constructed 3217 sqm factory and relocate his building company to the Sunshine Coast.
There is DA for 7,000 sqm of industrial space to be developed on-site over three stages..
O’Meara said the Yandina Industrial Estate, located on the western side of the Coolum-Yandina roundabout, is an extremely popular and tightly-held business location.
“Yandina has been a solid performer through the downturn, with low vacancy rates, and is home to Australian Provincial Newspapers, The Buderim Ginger Factory, Bizfurn and Rockcote among others,” he said. “Access to the Bruce Highway and its elevated position above the highway make it a very attractive position for industry,”
“The existing building is incomplete and will possibly undergo some changes to better suit the buyer’s specific requirements,” he concluded.
