COLLIERS International Townsville has bolstered its position with the acquisition of local real estate firm Ferry Property.
Ferry Property has been operating in Townsville for over 30 years and directors Richard Ferry and Angelo Castorina will be taking up roles within Colliers.
Colliers’ Townsville managing director Peter Wheeler said the acquisition of such a respected brand augments the firm’s existing operations in the region.
“By bringing together Colliers International and Ferry Property’s businesses and our significant property market experience, it reinforces our service offering to our existing and potential clients.
“As a result of this acquisition both businesses will operate under Colliers International brand in the Ferry Property’s current office at 21-25 Sturt St. Due to insufficient floor space in our existing premises at 514 Sturt St, we will be relocating to cater for this expansion in early November,” he added.
Ferry said the current merger with Colliers continues a relationship, which began with the original Colliers in 1982.
“It is now time for a generational change in our company and recognition that the Colliers International name dominates the aspects of real estate expertise, including rural and agribusiness, with which the company is involved,” Ferry said.
Colliers state chief executive Simon Beirne said the acquisition is part of an aggressive growth plan for the Queensland business.
“Our Queensland staff numbers have increased by 36% with 40 newly created roles over the past 24 months. While others have been watching costs we have been investing in our business,” Beirne said.
