Fiera Real Estate Investments has opened its Fiera Canadian Real Estate Debt Fund to qualified external investors, expanding the strategy launched in 2006.
The fund seeks to raise additional funding from private and institutional investors with a target of reaching $1.5bn in capitalization over the next few years. As of the end of June, the fund had $800m of assets under management.
The open-end fund targets short-term investments in construction projects or redevelopment projects across Canada.
The fund offers a range of debt products including first- and second-lien financing from $5m to $50m, with terms of 12 to 24 months.
