A COMMERCIAL vineyard in South Australia’s McLaren Vale wine region, developed by winemaker David Paxton in the 1990s for a syndicate of Victorian investors, has hit the market.
Colliers wine industry specialists Tim Altschwager and Nick Goode have been appointed by the proprietors of Hiltops Vineyards Pty Ltd to handle the sale and marketing of the Hiltop Vineyards, situated on Malpas and Little Roads in Whites Valley. Expressions of Interest close Thursday, 30th March.
Plantings are predominantly premium red wine varietals including Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, with a smaller area grafted to popular European varietals, Tempranillo, Vermentino, Fiano, Aglianico and Nero d’Avola.
Hiltop Vineyards has consistently produced A-grade Shiraz and B-grade Cabernet Sauvignon.
Hiltop has a total land footprint of just over 80 hectares on four Certificates of Title, with approximately 59 hectares developed to wine grapes. The vineyards are certified organic by NASAA.
Irrigation water is sourced from Willunga Basin Water Co. and bores and is reticulated throughout the vineyard via an irrigation control system and poly driplines.
Improvements include an attractive three-bedroom stone residence with landscaped gardens and views to the Mt Lofty Ranges and extensive operational shedding.
