THE historic Richmond Grove Winery in the Barossa Valley Wine Region, one of South Australia’s biggest wineries, has hit the market.
Spanning 27-hectares across five titles Richmond Grove Winery, at 21 Para Road, Tanunda, has produced some of the country’s most acclaimed wines, including Watervale Riesling.
Tim Altschwager, Nick Goode, and Tom Barrett from Colliers are managing the sale via an expressions of interest campaign, on behalf of Pernod Ricard Winemakers.
“The sale of Richmond Grove, located at 21 Para Road, Tanunda, presents a rare opportunity for buyers to acquire a significant Barossa landholding with multiple Titles and potential for alternate uses,” said Altschwager, national director of agribusiness at Colliers.
The winery boasts around 87 million litres of tank storage and 299 tanks, three climate-controlled warehouses totalling over 16,400sqm, making it an ideal site for large-scale production, storage, and distribution operations.
This is in addition to multiple residences on site, including the historic Flemish-style chateau.
“Its strategic location in the Barossa Valley, renowned for premium wine production, further enhances its appeal,” said Goode, associate director of agribusiness at Colliers.
“While Richmond Grove’s heritage is entrenched in winemaking, its future could include a mixture of industrial, residential and wine tourism pursuits, subject to necessary consents,” said Barratt, national director of industrial and logistics.
Back in February, another Barossa Valley property hit the market through Colliers in the institutional-grade Rosedale Vineyard in the region’s south west.
The expressions of interest campaign for Richmond Grove Winery is scheduled to close on 20 November 2024.
