Truman Homes and Marriott International last week announced a $1.47bn plan to open three hotels under Marriott brands, including two new projects. They hailed the 720-room portfolio – and additional 359 for-sale residences – as one that would change the city’s hotel landscape.
But individual construction costs weren’t announced. Two 60-storey skyscrapers, which will share bottom floors, will be built at the corner of 15the and Macleod Trail SE. A planned W Calgary will cost $571.9m and the JW Marriott Calgary will cost $566.6m.
Development plans will be submitted to city officials in the coming weeks. Both towers – which total 405 hotel rooms and 359 homes – would be the tallest in Western Canada.
The final location, the previously announced 320-key Autograph Collection Hotel on Stampede Park will cost $330m to build. It will open in 2028, followed by the W Calgary in 2029 and JW Marriott in 2030.
