CO-WORKING giant WeWork has temporarily shut 100 offices in China over the coronavirus.
In an interview with CNBC, chairman Marcelo Claure said WeWork has not recorded any infections.
As at 12 February, the epidemic has recorded 43,141 confirmed cases and 1,018 deaths.
The WeWork shutdown comes as other major companies, such as Apple, extend the closure of their 42 stores across China until the next of the week after originally planning to reopen on Tuesday.
Meanwhile manufacturers are desperately trying to restart production. Overnight car marker Nissan announced it was shutting its Japan factory due to a shortage of parts from China. Apple’s main supplier, Foxconn has obtained clearance from authorities to reopen its Zhengzhou plant in eastern central China, but only 10% of its workforce is permitted to return to work, but its Shenzhen plan remains closed.
Telsa has reopened its Shanghai plant but said delivery of its Model 3 cars will be delayed as a result of the recent closure.
