THE tallest apartment tower to be launched in Sydney’s North Shore, Metro Residences, has been fast-tracked to the market due to unprecedented demand.
The launch follows the sellout of 290 apartments in one weekend in the second tower.
Metro Grand will be 46 storeys – the highest residential building on Sydney’s North Shore – and comprise 261 apartments. It will be built on the western side of the Chatswood Interchange, over the railway and bus station. Metro View and Metro Spire will be built on the eastern edge of the already completed retail podium.
Construction of the three towers is planned to start in June.
CBRE residential projects managing director David Milton said the demand for apartments in the first two Metro towers was the most frenetic seen in Sydney since the early 1990’s when off-the-plan marketing was in its infancy. All bar two of the 292 apartments sold on the first weekend.
The sales included five of the six penthouses, with the top price being $4.1 million.
CBRE has started a Registration of Interest campaign for Metro Grand, with the VIP pre-release event for the lower levels (170 apartments) to be held on April 2, and the upper levels (91 apartments) on April 16. CBRE will also start selling Metro Grand simultaneously in Hong Kong and Singapore.
The towers will fully integrate resort-style precinct with a 10,000 sqm retail centre operating well before the first residents move in. Already a thriving ‘Eat Street’ on the western side of the podium is in full swing, and further restaurants are planned on Railway Parade.
