ONE of Auckland's most prestigious properties, the Waitakere Estate, is on the market for the first time.
The property is for sale by expressions of interest as a freehold going concern. Exclusive agents DTZ New Zealand’s Barry Jeffery said the property is expected to fetch around $US10 million ($NZ12.5 million).
Designed, developed and owned by two generations of the Nevill-Jackson family, the property now operates as a secluded boutique hotel comprising 17 hotel suites, a restaurant and bar. It also features its own chapel, helipad and approximately 70 acres of land, the bulk of which is native rainforest.
Jeffery said the estate is perched on a ridgeline adjacent to the 50,000-acre Waitakere Ranges Regional Park in Waiatarua and has extensive views across Auckland City and the Hauraki Gulf beyond.
“Astute overseas investors will benefit from favourable exchange rates and the absence of a capital gains tax in New Zealand,” he added.
DTZ has sole agency rights until August 31 2008.
