THE home of Sydney harness racing, Harold Park, will officially will placed on the market for $150 million.
On the weekend, the New South Wales Harness Racing Club’s 800 members voted overwhelmingly to sell the property, which has been home to harness racing since 1902.
Located in Glebe, Harold Park is just 2.9kms from the Sydney CBD, the site has paceway from 600 metres to 1400 metres in length and parking for more than 2500 cars.
Since the club decided to move race meetings to Menangle Park, Harold Park.
Currently there are no plans for the site, a similar site – Adelaide’s Cheltenham Park Racecourse was sold in November last year for $85 million to AVJennings.
Property sources told Australian Property Journal the $150 million asking price will be difficult to obtain in current market conditions.
But if Adelaide’s Cheltenham Park is any indication, the sale process for Harold Park could be lengthy. Cheltenham Park was first placed on the market in September 2004 for $50 million.
