AMP Capital has partnered up with Australian fast-charging electric vehicle company Evie Networks to deliver universal fast charging stations in 16 shopping centres across Australia and New Zealand.
Under the new partnership Evie will install two fast-charging stations per shopping centre, with further options to install additional stations as EV demand increases.
“AMP Capital is partnering with industry specialists in the EV space to future-proof our assets, as well as ensure that our customers have the best experience while keeping pace with community expectations for charging solutions,” said Marco Ettorre, head of retail and investment at AMP Capital.
So far AMP and Evie have announced that the EV charging stations will be introduced to Macquarie Centre in north-west Sydney and Pacific Fair on the Gold Coast.
“Partnering with a large asset management team like AMP Capital aligns perfectly with our own company mission to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in Australia,” said Chris Mills, CEO of Evie Networks.
Evie charging stations are run on 100% renewable energy and are far faster than traditional AC charging stations, taking 30 minutes to add a range up to 150km, compared to four hours.
The stations will institute a pay-per-use charge option of 40 cents per kWh, for visitors to the shopping centres.
“Shoppers have different needs so whether they are just grabbing a few things or click and collect and need to express charge their vehicle, this is a great option. Of course, longer form charging also plays an important part in the customer experience for those visitors that have several hours to shop and charge,” said Ettorre.
The installation of the Evie Networks charging stations will be complete by 2022.
“Being able to leverage AMP Capital’s strong ties to their communities across Australia & New Zealand provides us with the ability to create true destination charging spaces for both their customers and ours, whilst maximising our network’s reach and coverage,” concluded Mills.
AMP Capital recently secured a handful of new tenants moving into their Quay Quarter Tower and Angel Place in Sydney and Collins Place in Melbourne, while at their re-developed Karrinyup Shopping Centre in Perth, construction is well underway at the new high-end residential apartments offering.
