THE Ryan family have sold one of Sydney’s well known watering holes, The Republic Hotel, to a global fund in an off market deal for $35 million.
Ray White Hotels’ Andrew Jolliffe sold the multi-storey building to an Asian investment fund.
Located opposite the Australian Stock Exchange, the four-level pub will be leased back to the Ryan family, who have operated the business for 17 years. It occupies a 228 sqm site.
Investors have been thirsty for pubs lately.
Earlier this month, Justin Hemmes paid $20 million for the Vic on the Park hotel.
Last month Iris Capital sold the Clovelly Hotel for $34 million, and the Liberman family-backed Impact Investment Group bought the Beach Hotel in Byron Bay developed by Crocodile Dundee co-writer John Cornell, for $70 million, in the biggest pub deal this year.
