AROUND 18 hectares of state-owned land on the edge of Exmouth Marina is being sold by Western Australia’s Cook government to a Fowler Group and Celsius consortium for 150 new residential lots.
Following the sale by DevelopmentWA, construction is set to commence in mid-2025 with the consortium considering fast-tracking at least 10 new homes to be delivered specifically for local council and service workers.
The North West Cape development – set on the precinct’s last remaining parcel of waterfront land – will also feature public open space and commercial sites at the southern end of the marina.
Broader estate delivery will include public consultation.
The land release follows other recent initiatives to address accommodation and housing in Exmouth, including creating greater powers for local governments to approve temporary accommodation arrangements on private land, and incentives for owners of short-stay accommodation or vacant homes to bring their property onto the rental market.
“My government is bolstering housing supply in regional communities across WA, and unlocking this significant parcel of land will provide a major boost to the local market in Exmouth,” said Premier Roger Cook.
Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti said the 150 new residential lots will help bolster the supply of new housing in Exmouth, and ensure “we have enough homes to support the local workforce, particularly those supporting our state’s critical tourism sector”.
The Western Australian government says it is making a $3.2 billion investment in housing and homelessness measures.
