EUROPEAN airline giant Lufthansa has signed a five year for office space at 189 Kent St Sydney.
Ray White Commercial office leasing director John Skufris, who negotiated the deal, said Sydney’s office leasing market is taking off thanks to movements by a number of international airlines and tourism operators.
“Qantas, Air Pacific and Eva Air have all sought new CBD premises over the past 24 months,” Ray White Commercial’s Anthony Harris said.
“Qantas moved from Bridge St retail to office space while Eva Air relocated to the city from Mascot. Japan Airlines and Nippon Travel both moved to 22 Market St in the city earlier this year,” he added.
Lufthansa, which was formerly at 143 Macquarie St Sydney, has secured a five year lease for approximately 320 sqm of office space at 189 Kent St Sydney.
“We understand Lufthansa’s Kent St office may also accommodate business travel payment company Air Plus International.
“189 Kent St offers a brand new foyer, near new passenger lifts, sweeping city views, shower facilities and availability of basement parking,” he continued.
Ray White commercial’s Anthony Harris said Singapore Airlines will also be looking to move in 2012 with a requirement for office space of up to 1,500 sqm.
He added that the airlines recognised the convenience of the CBD location.
“Airlines also have less need for a retail presence as so much of their business nowadays is online,” Harris concluded.
