THE Victorian government is looking to capitalise on the strong demand for development sites by offering a 1,508sqm vacant site in Footscray.
The 6-8 Neilson Place property in Melbourne’s inner-west is going to auction on Friday, August 12 and is being marketed by JLL’s Marcus Quinn, Lincoln Reynolds and Tom Ryan on behalf of the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources.
It is expected to attract interest of around $2.5 million.
“The site is well-positioned with good potential views; it is so close to the CBD and has a huge array of surrounding amenity in a rapidly gentrifying Footscray,” Quinn said. “Zoned in a flexible Activity Centre 1 precinct, the property is ripe for a mixed-use residential project. Developers are becoming increasingly aware of the area’s potential and the benefits of high-density living can provide for the area, with major developers including Grocon, Places Victoria, Lend Lease and Mirvac either owning or registering interest in Footscray sites.”
