BILLIONAIRE Harry Triguboff’s Meriton will increase its build-to-rent (B2R) portfolio to over 3,500 apartments after adding B2R units in its Signia development at 200 Coward St.
Meriton will bring 237 new high-end apartments into Sydney’s Mascot, with the B2R component spread across three six-level buildings at the nearly-completed project.
It includes two buildings that house the newly opened 179-room Meriton Suites Sydney Airport hotel.
Victor Toscano, Meriton’s head of residential leasing, said the Signia rental apartments take the group’s number of units in its build-to-rent pool past the 3,500 mark this year.
Toscano said Mascot has become a rental hotspot, due to its proximity to the Sydney CBD and easy access to Sydney Airport.
He said the Signia apartments are the “latest to be completed in a self-funded build-to-rent program that Meriton has been running for more than 20 years”.
Apartments in the development will measure between 50sqm and 72sqm a one-bedroom apartment, from 73sqm to 98sqm internally for two-bedrooms and between 92sqm and 119sqm three-bedroom apartment. External spaces range from 8sqm up to 74 sqm.
Toscano said rents would start at $570 for a one-bedroom apartment without parking, and peak at $1,000 for a three-bedroom unit with two car spaces.
The final building will be completed in July, and includes landscaped gardens, an 80-place childcare centre, more than 1,000sqm of retail space, and tenant parking for 223 cars.
