ISPT has opened its $164 million office tower at 271 Spring Street in Melbourne’s CBD, the new headquarters of health insurance major Australian Unity.
Australian Unity pre-committed to the entire 15,600 sqm of the 16-level tower for 15 years in 2017.
Completed on schedule this month, the development has a striking façade and combines A-grade office accommodation with function spaces, end of trip facilities and a rooftop terrace with views over north and east Melbourne.
The site repurposes heritage elements of the former Elms Hotel and the restored Church of England Mission Hall in the building’s restaurant, client lounge and modern meeting facilities.
“The opening of 271 Spring Street completes our long-term vision for the Lonsdale precinct, retaining and expanding upon the extensive history of this site. We worked with Australian Unity to create a modern workplace and amenity for their teams, while restoring and integrating the surrounding heritage buildings,” Daryl Browning, ISPT chief executive officer said.
Meanwhile, construction continues at ISPT and Cbus Property’s landmark Collins Arch development at 447 Collins Street in the heart of the CBD, and the $800 million future offices of NAB at 405 Bourke Street, which is being developed with Brookfield.
ISPT is also developing Victoria University’s new 32-storey, 24,000 sqm vertical campus at 364-378 Little Lonsdale Street, in a joint venture also with the Victorian Department of Education and Training. It will acquire the Little Lonsdale Street site from the University, as well as heritage-listed Victoria University Tower and Land Titles Office sites on Queen Street, which will be leased back to the University on a 30-year agreement.
