DEVELOPER ID_Land has confirmed the sale of a 3.5 hectare site in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges to the state government, which will build a new primary school and kindergarten due for completion in 2022.
The site is positioned within ID_Land’s Willow estate in Gisborne.
The school will accommodate up to 475 students ranging from prep to grade six, while an on-site two-room kindergarten will have places for 66 children. It will form part of the government’s fast-tracked $7.2 billion school infrastructure blitz to deliver upgrades and schools in the areas that need them most.
Construction is due to commence on the school site in the coming months, alongside the first three stages of Willow, where civil works began in August.
ID_Land said the popularity of Willow has been underpinned by pent-up demand for high-quality housing, a desire by local buyers to remain in the Macedon Ranges, and the reliability of real estate investment in the region.
“Throughout 2020 there has also been strong interest from metropolitan buyers eager for a tree-change, as COVID-19 drove a seismic shift in work-from-home habits; further buoyed by the lifestyle drawcards that Gisborne and its surrounds offers,” it said.
