LOGOS has secured GPC Asia Pacific as the latest tenant at its new circa $300 million Broadmeadows Logistics Estate in Melbourne.
GPC Asia Pacific, one on the leading automotive aftermarket parts and accessories suppliers in Australia and New Zealand, has committed to a circa 39,000sqm distribution centre at the 25-hectare premium estate in Broadmeadows, which sits around 16km north of the CBD.
“We look forward to working with GPC Asia Pacific to deliver this important new facility and support their growth across Victoria,” said Darren Searle, head of LOGOS, Australia and New Zealand.
Once completed the estate will comprise 127,000sqm of sustainable warehousing space spanning five facilities.
“Broadmeadows Logistics Estate is a key property within our portfolio that services the growing northern Melbourne market. With a focus on supporting the core logistics sectors of e-commerce, distribution, food and cold storage, we are able to offers tenants with state of the art, sustainable logistics facilities and immediate access to Melbourne’ key transport networks through this Estate,” added Searle.
The estate is targeting a 5 Star Green Star Communities rating, in line with LOGOS’ and capital partner Ivanhoe Cambridges commitments and a first for the Australian industrial sector, with the partners hoping to make the estate carbon neutral in eventuality.
“Sustainability is core to Ivanhoé Cambridge’s business and we are pleased to be working with likeminded partners in LOGOS and GPC to deliver 5 Star facilities at Broadmeadows Logistics Estate. This Estate is an important part of our sustainability commitment to achieve net zero carbon by 2040,” said George Agethen, senior vice-president, Asia Pacific at Ivanhoe Cambridge.
In addition, the development will also target a 5 Star Green Star Design and As Built rating across all five facilities, with planned sustainability measures including a minimum of 99KW solar panels. While in demolishing the previous buildings on the site 99% of all materials were recycled.
GPC’s high quality and efficient space will include integrated state-of-the-art technology, with the GPC facility including a 300kW solar system installed.
“As a business, we’ve experienced significant growth over the past three years and we look forward to integrating advanced technologies within a new state-of-the-art facility in Melbourne to improve our customers experience,” said Jon Longbottom, executive general manager of logistics at GPC, Asia Pacific.
The estate will offer ample access to key transport links such as the Western Ring Road, the Tullamarine Freeway and the Hume Highway Interchange.
There is still around 65,900sqm of space available for pre-lease and speculative flexible warehouses, with 50% of the estate already committed, with the remaining space range from circa 8,000sqm to 58,000sqm.
Construction of the Broadmeadows Logistics Estate in Melbourne is due to commence in January of 2022, with completion scheduled for Q1 2023.
