THE property boom has elevated Meriton’s Harry Triguboff to the top of Australia’s Rich List, overtaking mining magnate Gina Rinehart.
The 2016 BRW Rich 200 revealed that Triguboff topped the list with $10.62 billion wealth. It is also the first time the property development took the first position after featuring on the Rich List for the past 33 editions.
Triguboff has replaced Rinehart who is no longer the richest person in Australia for the first time since 2010. She fell to fourth place with a wealth of $6.06 billion, down from $14.02 billion last year.
In second place was Anthony Pratt, executive chairman of Visy in Australia and Pratt Industries in the United States with a wealth of $10.35 billion.
Westfield co-founder Frank Lowy came in third $8.26 billion, Rinehart in fourth, followed by shopping centre magnate in John Gandel in fifth with $5.40 billion.
Chinese property billionaire Hui Wing Mau, who has Australian citizenship came in sixth place with $5.39 billion.
Casino king James Packer was seventh with $5 billion.
