LANDMARK White has entered into a trading halt yesterday as it responds to the data breach of up 100,000 customers, which resulted in the National Australia Bank suspending the use of its valuation services.
NAB is the third lender, after Commonwealth Bank and ANZ to suspend the services, after the Nine Network and Fairfax revealed that up to 100,000 customers have had their data leaked, including property valuations and personal information.
ANZ’s chief data officer Emma Gray said the bank has suspended its services due to the breach while an investigation is underway.
“We are currently undertaking investigations to understand specifically which ANZ customers may be affected and we will contact them directly to outline potential impacts and how we will support them.
“As a result of this incident ANZ has currently suspended use of the services of the valuation provider at the centre of the investigations.” Gray said.
LMW said it is cooperating with authorities and notified affected corporate partners.
“We take the privacy and security of our data very seriously, and we are working closely with Cyber Security consultants to investigate the circumstances of the disclosure of the dataset.
“We have taken immediate steps to secure what we believe to be the source of the disclosure to prevent any further disclosure of data. Currently there is no evidence of misuse of any information although this remains under close review.
“We are in the process of directly notifying our affected corporate partners of the incident to let them know that we are taking steps to investigate and prevent any potential misuse of information. As required, we will also be notifying law enforcement bodies, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, and the Australian Stock Exchange, all of whom we intend to fully cooperate with in respect of this incident.”
Yesterday LMW entered into a trading halt, pending an announcement, which is expected no later than Monday 18 February 2019.
