A FORMER petrol station in Sydney’s inner west once owned by former Prime Minister John Howard’s family, and where he worked as a boy, is going to auction next month.
The site, at 271-275 Wardell Rd Dulwich Hill, was owned by Howard’s father Lyall and grandfather Walter and now operates as a workshop.
The warehouse site is being offered alongside an adjacent residence and shop facility at 269 Wardell Rd in one line and are expected to fetch between $3.8 million and $4.2 million.
The combined site covers 455sqm and returns approximately $153,868 annually plus GST.
Raine & Horne Commercial director Luke Smith said the properties offer enormous capital growth potential coupled with a good holding income.
He added that buyers can also look forward to achieving strong re-sales as part of any future redevelopment, owing to the two properties’ strategic position on the cusp of Dulwich Hill and Marrickville, which are among the inner west’s most popular suburbs.
The site will go under the hammer in rooms at 50 Margaret St, Sydney on May 24.
