URBAN Xtreme Adventures has confirmed a seven-year lease with options over a warehouse in Goodman’s 370 Nudgee Road, Hendra on Brisbane’s northside, which it will turn into an indoor snow sports and adventure centre after receiving development approval from Brisbane City Council.
The group initially lodged their plans for the 5,523 sqm building in the first half of this year and is now undertaking the fit-out of the site following three years of planning and false starts at other sites.
It will be the first snow centre in Australia and is expected to open before Christmas.
Shaw Harrison of Savills negotiated the lease for the building, which includes office space, a high bay warehouse and a large mezzanine deck.
Urban Xtreme chief executive officer, Lindsay Davis, who founded the company with husband Darren Montgomery and Ben Baker, said the hardest part for the business initially was selecting a property location and a building that met its requirements.
“Deciding whether to open on the North or South side of the river was difficult however the incredible 12 metre internal clearance of the Hendra facility plus the car parking and access made the decision easier,” Davis said.
The site will also open with a laser tag course, trampolines, climbing walls, and adventure course designed by Lachlan Fyfe of TV show Ninja Warrior.
