FOUR new buildings worth $240 million at Mirvac and Landcom’s Green Square Town Centre development have been approved, securing 316 new apartments and retail space for the inner city project.
Building A, the tallest of the buildings, will rise 23 storeys from a gateway location to the town centre and feature a curved geometric form, with 152 apartments, and the 13 level building B will have a green roof and 119 apartments. Also 13 storeys, the art deco-inspired building C will have a green wall and 45 apartments. Each of the buildings will have ground floor retail. Seven high end, bespoke terrace homes will make up building D.
Future residents will benefit from the building’s connection to Green Square’s high street, and retail along Ebsworth Street, which features a 2,000 sqm Woolworths supermarket and other retailers.
“As the newest town centre for the City of Sydney in one hundred years, our attention to detail and focus on quality will ensure a vibrant community that stands the test of time for generations to come,” Mirvac’s chief executive offier and managing director, Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz said.
Smart Design Studio and CO-AP were selected as the winning architects for buildings that make up the next stage. They will link the recently completed OVO and Ebsworth buildings with City of Sydney community projects, including the $32 million cultural precinct, aquatic centre, new green spaces and library.
Natural elements have been incorporated into the building, including landscaped open spaces, gardens, green walls and a new laneway connecting the community between Zetland Ave and Portman St.
The Green Square Town Centre has been awarded the highest possible 6 Star Green Star Communities rating by the Green Building Council of Australia. Residents will have views across the new public park known as the Drying Green, named for the site’s wool industry past. Delivery is expected by the City of Sydney in 2021. The community is a short walk to the Green Square train station.
