Construction company Hansen Yuncken has been appointed as managing contractor for NSW’s cladding remediation program.
The three-year Project Remediate is a voluntary program to help remove combustible cladding on an estimated 225 residential apartment buildings known to the state’s cladding taskforce.
Eligible building owners and owners corporations will be helped through interest-free loans over a 10-year period with repayments to commence upon completion of the work, and assurance and project management services to provide technical and practical support to owners corporations and strata managing agents.
Hansen Yuncken will oversee scheduling, system set-up and building investigation, through to solution design, presentation, council and owner consent, remediation execution and assurance. It will also be responsible for managing the procurement, coordination and supervision of a range of qualified, reputable industry specialists. This will include a global façade consultant and additional product testing where necessary.
“Ultimately, we are here to make sure every homeowner involved will be given access to the best solution in a simple and reliable manner,” Nick Luzar, NSW state manager at Hansen Yuncken said.
NSW building commissioner, David Chandler said the program would be undertaken in consultation with the Office of Project Remediate, the NSW Cladding Taskforce, Fire and Rescue NSW and the Cladding Product Safety Panel.
