New South Wales government-agency Landcom’s development south-west of Sydney has secured approval for thousands more homes.
Through a concept plan modification, the Edmondson Park Town Centre North site will now deliver 3,030 new homes, which is almost seven times more compared to the 440 units in its original proposal.
Built on a 30-hectare site, plans call for various housing setups including terraces, semi-detached dwellings, studio dwellings and apartments. Units are expected to be open for occupancy by the end of 2026.
The project will also include 5,000 sq m of retail and commercial space, 5,000 sq m of recreational open space, pedestrian and cycle paths, and 4.3-hectares of open space at the entrance of Edmondson Park train station.
Critical roads and infrastructure supporting the development are under construction. 4 hectares of land are also allotted for the construction of Edmondson Park High School.
The agency plans to deliver 7,000 homes by 2029, with 3,800 units already supplied since 2011.
“This is Landcom stepping up to address the housing crisis head on, by scaling up our development to deliver density done well,” said Alex Wendler, CEO of Landcom.
“This will focus greater density housing closer to the train station, while offering more options for those looking to buy a home in a vibrant community surrounded by green, open spaces.”
Landcom has released three sites in this precinct to market through an Invitation to Tender to deliver 44 terraces.
Interested purchasers can acquire all or any of the three sites.
The Invitation to Tender is open until Wednesday, 12 March 2025, 5:00pm AEDT.
