JOINT venture partners Abadeen Group and PERIFA, alongside Phoenix Property Investors and Mitsubishi Estate Asia, have launched their $300 million mixed-use waterfront development, Putney Wharf Residences.
Located on 300-metres of absolute water frontage, the SJB-designed wharf precinct comprises a collection of 67 luxury apartments and townhouses plus waterfront dining and retail along with a 36-berth marina.
The three- and four-storey townhouses and apartments include heritage components, drawn from the site including original timber beams amongst other preserved materials.
Adding to its heritage credentials, the site is also home to the historic former Halvorsen’s Boatshed.
SJB worked closely with Heritage Consultants, Curio Projects and landscape architects, Dangar Barin Smith, Putney Wharf Residences on the precinct.
“We’ve already received an overwhelming response with over 3000 registrations of interest from largely local downsizers drawn to the development’s unique waterfront location and lifestyle offering,” said Tim Rees, senior director of residential projects at CBRE, who is managing project sales.
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime purchase, and with only 67 residences available, these properties will not last long.”
The residential component includes “The Halvorsen’s”, a full restoration of the heritage-listed Halvorsen’s Boatshed, comprising 19 oversized apartments; “Waterview Terraces”, comprising 18 three-storey, four-bedroom terraces; and “The Residences at Putney Wharf”, with two new-build three-storey apartment buildings including 30 apartments.
“Having been disused and closed to the public for several decades, the regeneration of the Putney Wharf Residences precinct is an important restoration project for the community,” said Joe Tack, COO at Abadeen Group.
“With such a rich history having been the home to Sydney’s most successful and prolific boat building business established in 1939 by the Halvorsen family, we feel a sense of pride in restoring, preserving and celebrating a significant piece of Sydney’s boating history.”
The residences are priced from around $2 million for a two-bedroom apartment, from $3.5 million for a three-bedroom apartment and $4 million for a three-bedroom terrace.
Additionally, the development will feature a 213sqm four-bedroom penthouse within the Boatshed apartment complex.
While Putney Wharf’s 36-berth marina has been designed to the latest Australian Standards and provides accommodation for boats sized 12 to 18 metres.
“Putney is a hidden harbourside gem, and Putney Wharf Residences offers an extraordinary opportunity to transform this rare waterfront site into a premium mixed-use development akin to the prestigious Woolloomooloo Wharf, with exceptional dining and residential combined to create the ultimate in waterfront living,” said Fabrizio Perilli, managing director and co-founder at PERIFA.
The project was announced this time last year with a total cost of $240 million, that has since expanded to $300 million.
With a development approval in place, construction is set to commence imminently with completion expected for 2027 and sales starting 2 November 2024.
