UK-based developer Banda and Australian businessman Rory O’Brien are set to deliver a $250 million residential development to the Gold Coast’s Main Beach.
Masthead Ocean Club promises a collection of 28 luxury beachfront whole floor apartments, including a penthouse, two sub penthouses and five Sky Homes with a 7-star resort experience and extensive amenities.
“This isn’t your average luxury beachfront development – the planning code has now changed so there will be nothing quite like it in the future. Masthead Ocean Club will be in a class of its own, dedicated to servicing the unique lifestyle demands of the world’s most discerning residents,” said O’Brien.
The apartments will feature protected views of both the Pacific Ocean, Broadwater and the Hinterland.
“We have carefully exploited the unique east west axis so owners can see the sunrise over the pacific and set over the mountains of the Hinterland. These views are preserved in perpetuity and will never be built out,” added O’Brien.
Masthead will mark Edo Mapelli Mozzi’s 2007-founded Banda’s first foray into Australia, having projects currently underway in London, New York, Doha, San Salvador and all across Europe.
Located at the northern end of Main Beach, known as the Golden Triangle, the development will sit within close proximity of premier lifestyle destinations such as the Southport Yacht Club and Superyacht Marina, Main Beach Surf Club, Spit parklands and Marina Mirage.
“This northern end of Main Beach is an incredible proposition. It has the beach and Broadwater on the doorstep but is also adjacent to 140-hectares of Spit parkland, which for me is reminiscent of the open space of Hyde Park in London and this really resonated. We’re absolutely thrilled to be designing and creating in Australia,” said Mozzi.
The development’s membership only amenities range, The Ocean Club, will span two full 650sqm floors and will comprise a wine and champagne lounge, whiskey and cigar room, private dining space, coffee bar, sky high library and business meeting areas.
“No other project in Australia offers residents such extensive private and secure luxury facilities but shared amongst so few people. In our case just 28 owners. This is true prestige,” said O’Brien.
With residents also set to enjoy benefits from brands as part of their membership, including Chairman’s Club membership to Levantine Hill Winery in The Yarra Valley, participation in Newgate’s 2023 racing syndicate and a complimentary new BMW electric car.
Residents will also have 24/7 access to a health & wellness club including a wet edge pool, spa, steam room and sauna, a world class gym and yoga and pilates studios.
“Masthead Ocean Club’s facilities will re-shape the way residents experience their new beachside home and lifestyle. We wanted to ensure our amenities are never crowded and can be freely enjoyed by our small number of residents in ultimate privacy and seclusion,” added O’Brien.
The whole floor apartments will span 317sqm, with the two sub penthouses spanning 634sqm and the grand penthouse spanning 1,000sqm. Each with private direct left access and double garaging.
While the penthouse will include its own pool, gym, golf putting green and the private owner’s study at the peak of the tower.
BDA Architects have been appointed to the structure, while the 20 residences have been envisioned by MIM Design, while Banda has designed the five penthouses, two sub-penthouses and the grand penthouse.
With all required approvals now in place, construction on Masthead Ocean Club is set to commence in the coming months with completion scheduled for 2024.
