PACIFIC Brands is consolidating its three business units under one roof – moving to Brisbane's $1 billion TradeCoast Central industrial and commercial park.
Pacific Brands has leased a 24,000 sqm warehouse with an ancillary office and showroom of 2,000 sqm on a 4.18 hectare site for 10 years with options to renew for a further 15 years. They expect to move in by March 2008. Approximately 150 staff will be on site once Pacific Brands completes its relocation.
The company will consolidate its bicycle distribution operation at Carole Park, an outerwear distribution operation from Hampton Park in Melbourne and an outerwear division and industrial wear distribution operation at Newmarket in Brisbane.
Pacific Brands’ general manager of logistics Tim Hossack said the TradeCoast Central site has been chosen after a nationwide research project.
“Once we selected Brisbane, we then looked for the best possible site. TradeCoast Central stood out because it has great access to roads, the airport, the port and with excellent site economics. It was also going to be a very easy site for staff relocations.” he added.
TradeCoast Central’s managing Ddrector Bob Tucker said the decision by Pacific Brands was the second major leasing deal for the industrial and office park in as many months.
Last month, electrical manufacturing company Schneider Electric agreed to lease a 18,500 sqm warehouse, factory and office facility at TradeCoast Central.
“The decision by Pacific Brands and Schneider underlined the appeal of this state-of-the art site with its unmatched access to Brisbane’s major road network and proximity to the Port of Brisbane and the Airport,” he added.
The TradeCoast Central site is just eight kilometres from the Brisbane CBD and is being developed on the 150 hectare old Brisbane airport site at Eagle Farm.
