QIC Global Real Estate has scored a major coup, securing global fashion label H&M to open its second Melbourne store at Eastland shopping centre.
H&M also unveiled that it is opening its first store in Perth, at Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City after securing 2,200 sqm of space.
H&M is the first international fashion brand to join Eastland, which is currently undergoing a $665 million redevelopment, to add 48,000 sqm and increase the centre`s total size to 130,000 sqm.
The expansion, which was announced in October 2013, is part of QIC`s plans to go head to head with Westfield Knox, only 9km away.
Over the past 18 months, QIC has been trying to woo the likes of Zara, Gap, Uniqlo, H&M and Top Shop, competing against more brand established centres such as Chadstone and Highpoint.
QIC has already secured David Jones to anchor a 11,000 sqm department store at Eastland.
H&M has been ramping up to open more stores in Australia after tripling its sales to $78.43 million in the first half of the year – making it one of the best performing markets globally for the Swedish giant.
