MIRVAC CEO Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz has led a team to renovate the Y Hotel as part of the company’s annual National Community Day.
The Y Hotel Hyde Park is the commercial enterprise for the YWCA NSW, which means all profits from the hotel go directly to YWCA NSW to fund essential programs in the community.
Former Queensland Premier and YWCA NSW CEO Anna Bligh said Mirvac’s Community Day is a fantastic initiative, and the organisation was so thrilled with the support received.
“Thanks to Mirvac, we have been able to freshen up our hotel, and create a warmer welcome to our guests – something we didn’t have the funds or manpower to do on our own.
“The successful operation of our two Sydney city-based hotels – Y Hotel Hyde Park and Y Hotel City South – is fundamental to the long term sustainability of our community programs. This allows us to deepen our impact within the community through our important programs and services, supporting people through key transition points in their lives,” Bligh said.
Lloyd-Hurwitz said community work is a key focus at Mirvac.
“We are working towards strengthening social inclusion, creating connections between people and improving quality of life, whether it’s through an education initiative or a charity contribution. This is why we have chosen to partner with over 35 charitable organisations across Australia for National Community Day, to help these organisations provide vital community support.
“By refurbishing the Y Hotel we are contributing to the continued success of YWCA NSW to ensure they can provide essential programs to women, children and families in need,” she added.
Mirvac’s second annual National Community Day involved more than 790 staff working across 35 charitable organisations at 43 locations around Australia.
