THE CEO and managing director of construction giant Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) has been released by Dubai authorities.
Cimic said in a statement that José Antonio López-Monís, who was detained by Dubai police on 17 August, has been released from custody without bail or any other conditions.
López-Monís has not been charged with any offence.
Last week Cimic said in a statement López-Monís was arrested “as a result of a complaint filed with police in Dubai”.
Cimic did not provide reasons behind his arrest and the Dubai authorities have also been silent.
HLG is 45% owned by ASX-listed Cimic and is Cimic’s construction business in the United Arab Emirates. Formed in 2007 by Leighton Holdings and UAE building contractor Al Habtoor, HLG employs more than 21,000 people in the region.
