THE “dramatic and imposing” Crows Nest landmark Willoughby House has fetched $8.9 million at auction.
Formerly the OJ Williams store, the distinctive four-level corner building of 850 sqm at 425-429 Pacific Highway has a curved façade designed by T.D. Esplin and was given the description by the NSW Office of Environment & Heritage, which also declares it “a fine example of the Interwar Functionalist style and an early example of a large regional department store”.
It currently has a restaurant and hair salon on the ground floor, with office spaces and a medial suite across levels one to three and prominent rooftop signage offering further return through APN.
The building is located on the corner of Willoughby Road and close to the planned Crows Nest Metro Station.
Nicholas Breadman of LJ Hooker marketed the property, which was auctioned by Jesse Davidson of Auctionworks.
