CLEARANCE rates were up across the weekend, despite the number of auctions taking place last week dropping down again, after two consecutive weeks of increases.
While the number of auctions listed for the week was up, hitting 1,543 compared to the previous week’s 1,491, the number of reported auctions were down to 1,038 from 1,301, according to Domain.
Nationally, the clearance rate was at 57.5% up from last week’s 50.3%, with the number of homes sold at auction down from 655 to 597 and the number of properties with drawn down from 209 to 191.
Total value sold was at $472.1 million, the auction median at $1,052,500 for houses and at $661,000 for units.
This is down from last week’s total value of $493.5 million and auction median of $1,085,000 for houses and $725,000.
Compared to the same week last year numbers are down across the board, with national clearance rates at 73.8% and total value sold at $1330.5 million, auction medians for houses at $1,283,000 and units at $896,500.
In Sydney the clearance rate was up from 48.1% to 55.7%, with 348 reported auctions, 110 withdrawals and 194 properties selling.
This was for a total value sold of $189.4 million, or an auction median of $1,520,000 for houses and $835,000 for units.
In Melbourne the clearance rate was up from 50.6% to 57.8%, with 519 reported auctions, 59 withdrawals and 300 properties sold.
Melbourne has a total value sold at auction of $214.6 million, for an auction median of $967,500 for houses and $619,000 for units.
While in Adelaide, the clearance rate was well above the national average at 83%, with 70 auctions reported, six withdrawals and 58 properties sold, for $39,254,500 in total sales and a median of $750,000.
In Brisbane the clearance rate was at 47%, with 60 auctions reported, 10 withdrawals and 28 sold, for $17.29 million in value and a median of $1,325,000.
While Canberra had a clearance rate of 50%, with 54 auctions reported, six withdrawals and 27 properties sold for a total value of $16.54 million and a median of $940,000.
