GLOBAL construction company Multiplex has secured a competitive tender to deliver the planned major upgrade to Mosman High School on Sydney’s Lower North Shore.
Multiplex won the tender after 12 months of Early Contractor Involvement engagement by School Infrastructure NSW to plan and design the upgrade.
“Multiplex is thrilled to be the contractor on this important project for the NSW Department of Education and the Mosman community,” said David Ghannoum, regional managing director for Multiplex, NSW.
The upgrades to Mosman High School are being funded as part of the NSW government’s $8.6 billion investment across four years to see 160 new and upgraded schools across the state.
The Woods Bagot-designed upgrade will see 16 additional flexible learning space delivered to the school, in addition to a new multi-purpose hall/gym, a library, administration/staff area and a canteen.
The project will also provide new outdoor spaces to the campus, which will include a rooftop sports multi-court.
Multiplex is implementing its Jump Start program as part of the delivering the project, which gives female students insight into a career in construction.
“Our national Jump Start program is a very grassroots way for us to encourage more women to consider a career in construction, by showing them the diversity of roles on offer and breaking down some of the myths about our industry,” said Ghannoum.
“It was started by a group of Multiplex women and it’s wonderful to see the positive effect it has had on many hundreds of young women at a pivotal time of making career decisions.”
Mosman High School will remain fully operational throughout the delivery of the project, which has created around 150 jobs and is due to completed in mid-2023.
