LUXURY property developer Kokoda has secured development approval for its $1.5 billion Skyring Terrace project, the largest private development in Brisbane.
Designed in collaboration with partners Carr, Cottee Parker Architects and Urbis Town Planning and Landscaping, the 17,612 sqm project will include five distinct buildings comprising over 200 luxury residences, lofts and penthouses.
Located at 17-27 Skyring Terrace, the development will also bring international 5-star luxury hotel brand to the city with the opening of the first The Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, as well as an expansive commercial offering including over 4,800 sqm of absolute waterfront dining and retail, and a redeveloped, purpose built Community Hub.
Kokoda Property founder and managing director Mark Stevens said this project will bring a brand new, mixed-use global destination that represents the next evolution for Brisbane City by reinstating the riverbank for the future of Teneriffe.
“The project’s architecture draws inspiration from Teneriffe’s iconic brick woolstores and structural remnants of the suburbs river industries, and was designed with the subtropical Queensland climate in mind, maximising opportunities for outdoor and semi-outdoor active spaces,”
He added that the project emphasised the importance of enhancing public accessibility to the
Brisbane River as a key motivation for acquiring the Skyring Terrace site.
“Our vision for the project is to reignite the Brisbane riverfront for a new generation, with 9,331 sqm of the Skyring Terrace development dedicated to being open, lush green public spaces with sprawling laneways and a 220m riverwalk extension.
“With 53% of the site being open, green and for public use, our vision sees this reconnection to the Brisbane River in a unique and creative way,” he continued.
Kokoda has hit the ground running since acquiring the Teneriffe riverfront site in May last year from the Riverside Coal Transport Company, for more $100 million.
The Skyring Terrace deal was brokered by Elliot O’Shea and Seb Turnbull of JLL. Prior to Skyring Terrace, the most expensive site to be sold was in West End, which was brokered for $87 million in 2014.
Stevens said Kokoda Property will soon unveil the Skyring Terrace project in greater detail.
